A Dirty Job - Profound Noirness

Attn: Christopher Moore Fans

I know I have a couple of Christopher Moore fans on my flist, and I just thought you might want to see this. Christopher Moore will be releasing "Bite Me" in March. It's the third installment of 'The Vampire Flood' love story. And after reading through the preview posted on his blog, I am sooo excited!

"Being the Journal of Abigail Von Normal,
Emergency Back-up Mistress of the Greater Bay Area Night

The city of San Francisco is being stalked by a huge, shaved vampyre cat named Chet, and only I, Abby Normal, emergency back-up mistress of the greater Bay Area night, and my manga-haired love monkey, Foo Dog, stand between the ravenous monster and a bloody massacre of the general public. Which isn't, like, as bad as it sounds, because the general public kind of sucks ass.

Still, I think that this battle of dark powers, the maintenance of my steamy, forbidden romance, the torturous break-in of a new pair of red vinyl, thigh-high Skankenstein platform boots, as well as the daily application of complex eye make-up and whatnot, totally justify my flunking Biology 102, (Introduction to Mutilation of Preserved Marmot Cadavers, with Mr. Snavely, who totally has his way with the marmots when no one is around, I have it on good authority.) But try to tell that to the mother unit, who deserves this despair and disappointment for cursing me with her tainted and small-boobed DNA.
Allow me to catch you up, S'il vous plait. Pay attention, bitches, there will be a test."

Abby's back! And after reading the book summary, it looks like this book will be primarily focused around her!!! I can't wait until March! XD

Also, in case anyone is interested, they will be giving away ten advance copies of the book in January. For a chance to win one of the books, go here and sign up for the drawing. Good luck! :)

30-Day Meme, Day Two

Day Two: Favorite movie

"Leave it to the Catholics to destroy existence."

This is one is easy. My favorite movie hands-down is Dogma. I have seen it so many times, I can probably quote it verbatim, but it never gets old for me. It's just so damn funny. It's probably the lapsed Catholic in me, but I love the not-so-subtle nose-tweaking Kevin Smith gave the Church and religion in general. It's such a smart movie, and I think the fact that I actually learned a few things from it that I never learned in Sunday school is kind of cool.

Not to mention that it has Alan Rickman, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon all sporting wings. Mmmmm.... ;P

On a side note, I think one of the reasons I love Supernatural so much is because of how closely some of the angel's lines mirror Bartleby's in the scene below.

"Our Father! He stopped being that - if he ever was - the moment he created them. Humanity. His favorites!"
- Uriel to Castiel in 'On the Head of a Pin'

"And then God created you. The little hairless apes. And then he asked all of us us to bow down before you. To love you more than Him. And I said, 'Father, I can't. These human beings are flawed. Murderous.' And for that, God had Michael cast me into hell. Now tell me, does the punishment fit the crime? Especially when I was right. Look at what six billion of you have done to this thing. And how many of you blame me for it."
- Lucifer to Dean in 'The End'

"These humans have besmirched everything He's bestowed upon them. They were given paradise - they threw it away. They were given this planet - they destroyed it. They were favored best among all His endeavors. And some of them don't even believe He exists. And in spite of it all, He has shown them infinite fucking patience at every turn.

What about us? I asked you once to lay down the sword because I felt sorry for them. And what was the result? Our expulsion from paradise. Where was His infinite fucking patience then? It's not right! It's not fair!"

- Bartleby to Loki in Dogma

I know that I am probably just seeing connections that aren't really there. Hell, maybe all angry angels say similar things. But hearing Lucifer and Uriel making the same arguments that Bartleby did made just makes me grin. :)

30-Day Meme, Day One

I've seen this floating around my flist, and thought it might be interesting to do. Hopefully I'll keep up with it. :)

Day One: Favorite song

It's a hard choice, but at the moment, I'd have to say my favorite song is "If I Ever Leave This World Alive," by Flogging Molly. It's such a beautiful song. And even though it's about death, it ends on such a hopeful note that it actually makes me happy every time I listen to it.

"She says I'm okay; I'm all right,
Though you have gone from my life
You said that it would
Now everything should be alright
Yeah should be alright"

Jingle Bells

Thank you!

I just wanted to thank everyone for the virtual gifts. When I hopped on-line this afternoon, and saw my profile page covered in snowflakes, snowglobes and stockings, I was absolutely thrilled. It looks so festive! :)

Thank you so much everyone! You've really made my day. :)

The "I Refuse to Marry Anyone Not on This List" Meme

faithbeckett tagged me on this, and I thought it would be fun. (even though the fact that I'm already married kind of makes the whole refusing to marry anyone not on this list-thing a bit of a moot point now... ;P) And holy hell, it took me a long time to put this together! O.O

Anyway, here goes:

1) List ten celebrities you love right now.
2) Put them IN ORDER of your love-meter.
3) Supply photos for said people.
4) Say which movie/show/thing it was that hooked you.
5) Tag five-ish people.

The one thing I hate about memes is that I never know who to tag. So, I'm tagging blue_flame88, kaylbunny, catpaws (welcome back sweetie! :), mmbaroque, naotsu, pintsizeninja, seahorse_4215, wornoutbirks, and anyone else who feels like doing this. (if I did tag you, and you don't want to do the meme, please just ignore me :)

I just wanted to wish all you locals a very Happy Thanksgiving, and all you non-locals a very Happy Thursday. :)

And because you can't have a proper Thanksgiving without a troupe of scantily-clad women braving freezing temperatures on a busy New York street and kicking it off in perfect unison, I give you...

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! &hearts

  • 15:35 @dhewlett I'm sorry to hear that. I assume you are going to try to get one of the newer, more fuel-efficient models? #

Pink Gloves Dance

Swiped from misslucyjane because it's too awesome not to share.

A friend of a friend sent this along. It was her daughter-in-law who put this together in Portland last week for her Medline glove division as a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness. This was all her idea to help promote their new pink gloves.

When the video gets 1 million hits, Medline will be making a huge contribution to the hospital, as well as offering free mammograms for the community. Please check it out. It's an easy and great way to donate to a wonderful cause, and who hasn't been touched by breast cancer?

Three Supernatural Drabbles

I originally wrote these for a drabble challenge for spnland (go Team Castiel! :), but since the moderator announced that she is closing down the community for the time being, I thought I'd post them here.

Thanks to the fabulous kaylbunny for taking a look at the last one for me, and making sure it made sense enough to post. :)
